My earliest memory of watching Tim Burton movies was watching The Nightmare before Christmas and Beetlejuice with my dad, I’d like to think that he got me into the light hearted, dark genre. Let’s face it, the man’s ringtone is still the 1960’s Addams Family TV theme. Snaps and all.

Ever since I could remember, I grew up empathizing with Burtons’ quirky characters who were misunderstood and wanted more than what they were told they were capable of. The way Tim Burton was able to create characters that were nothing like how they looked on the outside really stayed with me, the absurdity of something so dark being so light has always been so inspiring. Probably the real reason why I joined theatre and ended up becoming a High School Theatre Director. I wanted to create my own absurd tenderness out of something completely unexpected. That is what I see when I look at my collection. And that is what keeps me collecting memorabilia from the film. My amazingly supportive husband also makes it easier…a lot easier… and even more of a treasured hobby. (During our wedding at the Grand Floridian Resort, we miiiight have walked down the aisle to a violin playing the the “Finale- Reprise” where Jack confesses his love to Sally on the snow covered spiral hill.) And by might, I mean absolutely!

I have been collecting The Nightmare Before Christmas memorabilia for about 15 years and pride myself on the diverse and limited items that I have been able to add to my collection so far. I use a website called Airtable to log and categorize my collection of over 800 items, from Original release dolls and Plushes, Disney World Art, to Funko Pops. Enjoy looking through my collection and catalogue of items! Contact me to discuss all things Nightmare!

For its plain as anyone can see, we’re simply meant to be.
