Peter and the Star Catcher / by Fernando Albarran

Below is my process for the technical elements of “Peter and the Star Catcher” as a part of Klein Forest High schools' 2021- 2022 season. *All photos and video clips used are from the rehearsal/ build process*

Working on Peter and the Starcatcher was all about creating a magical and eye-catching environment where imagination and creativity could come alive! From an epic shipwreck on stage to singing mermaids, magical amulets, a hungry crocodile, and the story of how Captain Hook lost his hand, this production was nothing short of a technical tour de force!

We built a series of platforms and ramps on casters that could easily be attached and detached to create endless configurations for each new location. With the use of these set pieces, props, and lighting, the audience was effortlessly transported from the deck of the Jolly Roger to a very famous tropical island.

Our ensemble was choreographed to bring props on and off stage and also served as puppeteers when certain props came alive. Meanwhile, our backstage and run crew safely moved and locked set pieces, operated the batten system, and powered our on-stage hazers and LED lights. As the technical director, I managed the team and motivated them to bring the magic to life in a safe and entertaining way.
